SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in San Diego, CA shipyard related subcontractor looking to hire an Electrician.


Job Summary

An Electrician will focus on providing engineering support to all departments as needed. Candidate will be performing routine maintenance and repair of pumps, hoses, grinders, and associated tools of the trade.


Must be in San Diego California, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.


Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair field returned equipment
  • Capable of working with High Voltage equipment 440V, 460V, 30amp up to 100amp equipment.
  • Understands how to safely build electrical disconnects and size breakers to protect equipment.
  • Able to configure step down transformers installed within equipment, to run auxiliary functions.
  • Ultra-High Pressure Knowledge a plus but not a requirement.
  • Hydraulic pump, positive displacement pumps and centrifugal pump knowledge a plus.
  • Lead and perform the design of assigned engineering projects
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
  • Verify all processes are followed
  • Always use proper PPE

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
  • Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety
  • Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment
  • Previous experience, especially in particular industry, 5 years preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, B.A., Technical/Vocational trade school, or apprenticeship

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required.


The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting


with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

Other requirements:

All positions require a pre-employment medical test. This employer participates in E-Verify. Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance. Ability to read technical English is a must.
