The City of Mount Holly, North Carolina is seeking an experienced Electrician responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems in city facilities.
The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, four years of electrical experience, and a valid North Carolina Electrical License. Responsibilities include performing inspections, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Electrician — Pay Range: $56,641.00 - $79,297.00; Pay Grade: 56; FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.
General definitions and conditions of work: Performs moderate to difficult technical work in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components for City facilities; works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Job related physical activity requirements: This position involves exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is performed in both field and indoor office environments with exposure to hazardous physical conditions; occasional exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, noise and extreme temperatures; regular use of safety equipment and PPE.
Other physical and sensory requirements include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
In-depth knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of electrical maintenance, repair and installation work. Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices. Thorough knowledge of uses and properties of supplies and equipment. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and codes (based on assignment). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, contractors, residents and businesses. Skills in: diagnosing, assessing and evaluating electrical repair and maintenance needs; performing journey-level repairs, maintenance and installation of electrical components, equipment and systems; conducting inspections and preventative maintenance; organizing tasks and meeting deadlines; coordinating work and providing directions; attention to detail; using a computer and relevant software; reading reference books and manuals; operating assigned tools and equipment.
High School Diploma or GED and four years of electrical experience and possession of a North Carolina Electrical License.
