Job summary

SpaceX in Texas seeks skilled electricians to join our Construction Projects team. You will work in an industrial setting testing rocket engines, stages, and components, ensuring the site’s electrical infrastructure is installed and functioning as required.

The role requires a high school diploma and 3+ years as a licensed electrician. Preferred are an Associate’s degree and a Journeyman license. Expect overtime, physically demanding tasks, and work at height when needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and components.
  • Install and maintain motor control centers, circuits, overloads, and disconnects.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain generators, ATS, and surge protection devices.
  • Handle electrical and electronic components of machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic devices.
  • Install grounding and lightning protection systems.
  • Read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Comply with the National Electric Code in all work.
  • Set up and troubleshoot commercial lighting, panels, and controls.

ELECTRICIAN

SpaceX is seeking skilled electricians to join our Texas Construction Projects team. These electricians will work in an industrial environment that is focused on testing rocket engines, stages, and components. They will be responsible for ensuring the test site’s electrical infrastructure is fully installed and functioning as expected, enabling SpaceX to continue achieving remarkable and historic milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, devices, equipment, and components
  • Install, repair, and maintain motor control centers, motor circuits, overloads, and disconnects
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain generators, automatic transfer switches, and surge protection devices
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic devices
  • Install grounding and lightning protection systems
  • Perform work from instructions using blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Install electrical components according to the current National Electric Code
  • Install and troubleshoot commercial lighting, receptacles, panels, circuits, and controls
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience working as a licensed electrician
Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Associate's degree
  • Journeyman license
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of codes, rules, regulations, and standards of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of 3Ø low and medium-voltage power distribution systems
  • Understanding of critical power and safety system design concepts
  • Ability to identify and implement efficient paths of action to finish the assigned work
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Experience with common trade hand and power tools and multimeters
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical manuals, schematics, and reports
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
Additional Requirements
  • Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Flight hardware is typically built in tight quarters, and physical dexterity is required
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects, up to 25 lbs unassisted
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, up to 300 ft with proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
