Job summary

Gildan is seeking an Electrical Technician to safely install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in the Yarns Division, ensuring all work complies with relevant codes and safety rules. The role covers preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of air conditioning, HVAC, and related machinery.

You will work 12-hour night shifts, 7pm to 7am, on site in Mayodan, NC, with weekly pay and a stable, supportive team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associates Degree preferred
• 1-3 years electrical experience
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a cotton dust environment

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in the plant
• Perform electrical preventative maintenance and troubleshoot HVAC/building systems
• Be available for on-call issues and ensure safety compliance

The opportunity

• The primary function of this job is to safely install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring that all work is in accordance with relevant codes.
• Responsible for the Electrical preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on the following equipment: air conditioning, filtration, auxiliary building equipment, opening, carding, drawing, and spinning.
• To be always reasonably available for any problems that may occur which involve anything electrical, availability to be on call when needed.
• Maintain all processing units throughout the plant
• Maintain and/or repair electrical equipment; repair and/or replace wiring.
• Maintain fire systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems.
• Maintain air compressors.
• Maintain HVAC Systems
• Electrical construction and installation
• Using ladders, scaffolds, and doing roof tasks in a safe manner
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring equipment, apparatus, and fixtures using proper hand tools and power tools.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and/or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with relevant codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, etc., to ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
• 12-hours night shifts, 7pm to 7am.

The requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associates Degree preferred.
• 1-3 years electrical experience
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a cotton dust environment.

• Ability to work safely at all times, observing all electrical safety requirements related to the job and plant.
