Job summary

EGGER North America in Lexington, NC seeks an Industrial Electrician responsible for installing and maintaining electrical systems in the manufacturing facility. The role requires ensuring compliance with safety standards and performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance. Strong knowledge of electrical codes and troubleshooting skills are essential. The position offers a competitive hourly wage and benefits such as health insurance and 401(k).

Job description

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing facility. This position supports production by minimizing equipment downtime, performing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring all electrical work complies with company safety standards, the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and applicable electrical codes.

Schedule: Monday – Thursday 7 am – 4 pm & Friday 7 am – 1 pm

Starting Pay: $26.50/hour

Responsibilities

JOB FUNCTIONS (Job functions include but are not limited to the following):

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical, control, and automation issues using electrical drawings, schematics, PLC software, and testing equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
  • Install and maintain motors, motor controls, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, switchgear, control panels, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
  • Perform electrical installations for new equipment, machinery upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
  • Test electrical systems using multimeters, megohmmeters, thermal imaging, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain plant lighting, electrical distribution systems, emergency power systems, and utility equipment.
  • Support production during equipment breakdowns by responding quickly to emergency maintenance requests.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and overall plant performance.
  • Coordinate with mechanical maintenance, engineering, production, and contractors on maintenance projects.
  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, electrical safety, confined space, and other safety procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and reliability initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Schedule Demands
  • Standard Operations: 9‑hour shifts Monday – Thursday (7 am – 4 pm) & 6‑hour shift Friday (7 am – 1 pm). Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends, and be punctual.
  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime, participate in emergency callouts, and rotating shift schedules as needed.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, stairs, and work from elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and around moving machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring identification.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash‑rated clothing.
Qualifications
Background / Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Industrial Electrician apprenticeship program, technical school, or equivalent military training preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and CMMS software (SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial electrical systems and automation.
  • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems up to 480 VAC.
