Job summary

Six Mile, LLC in Alaska seeks a Maintenance Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment for generation and distribution of electric energy.

You will read blueprints and specifications, diagnose and fix electrical issues, perform load calculations, and document work accurately while complying with safety regulations. On-call hours may be required; ability to work at heights and in varied environments is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Electrical License transferable to Alaska within six months of employment.
• Ability to work independently with good documentation and organizational skills.
• Must be able to respond to after-hours calls and follow safety regulations.
• Experience reading wiring schematics and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install or repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and related systems.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or specifications.
• Diagnose issues in electrical systems and maintain motors.
• Perform load calculations related to wiring and equipment.
• Use electrician's hand tools and testing instruments, and complete documentation.
• Contribute to other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers,switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment


• Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications


• Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment including installation andmaintenance of variable speed motors


• Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment


• Using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments


• Accurately completing all required documentation


• All other duties assigned by Management

COMPETENCIES

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Must be able to clearly communicate in the English Language (read and write)


• Must possess a Journeyman Electrical License that can be transferred to State of Alaskawithin six (6) months of employment


• Must be able to work independently


• Must have good documentation and organizational skills


• Must be able to respond to calls for work outside of normal working hours


• Knowledge of acceptable practices of occupational safety and health regulations


• Experience and proficiency in reading and understanding wiring schematics, machineand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints


• Occasional duties will include assisting and performing general electrical maintenance


• Must be able to perform work at heights, for example use of a bucket truck


• Other relevant duties assigned by Management

PREFERRED

• Five (5) years' experience in the field as an Electrician


• Experience with Allen-Bradley (CompactLogix and SLC500), PLCs, PanelView Plus HMIs,


• Experience with FactoryTalk programs


• Strong mechanical aptitude


• Fire alarm system electrical maintenance


• Commercial Driver's License Class (B)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

• As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Having reliable transportation to/from work is a necessity and must be able to have access to military installations.


• Must be able to drive a company vehicle and be insured


• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance necessary


• Must comply with all company policies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environments will include a variety of working conditions performed in an outside setting or in mechanic spaces with exposure to extremes for heat and cold. Work environments include, but are not limited to, multiple types of housing units, industrial facilities such as, wastewater treatment plants and sewage lift stations, performing work outside in the field. Successful applicant will be expected to perform work at heights in a bucket truck.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

LIFTING & CARRYING

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; carry materials and tools to work site up to 50lbs regularly and 51+ occasionally by team lifting. This position requires manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools.
