Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an Electrician for our Kingsport, TN location. You will plan layouts, install and repair wiring, fixtures and control equipment in a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman.

The position requires high school or equivalent, mechanical knowledge, 1–4 years of experience, NCCER certification, and safety-focused performance. A per diem option is available for eligible employees.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent is required.
  • Must have mechanical knowledge and electrical tool experience.
  • 1–4 years of experience in the specified skill depending on level.
  • Knowledge of electricians' tools and how to use them.
  • Qualifications for high voltage work may apply (600V/69kV).
  • Must be NCCER certified and pass pre-employment tests.
  • Pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Strict adherence to client safety requirements and PPE policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan layouts and install/repair wiring, fixtures and control equipment.
  • Plan and execute electrical installations according to diagrams/blueprints.
  • Test continuity and ensure safety and compatibility of components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical systems.
  • Relocate or replace faulty equipment as directed by supervision.

Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for an Electrician to join our team in Kingsport, TN. The Electrician position plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent
  • Must have mechanical knowledge
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
  • Working on or above 600V or 69kV industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification
  • Must be NCCER certified
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Functional Requirements:

Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, Provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring, Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, Pulls wiring through conduit, Splices wires, Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads, Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement, May repair faulty equipment or systems, Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
