Job summary

International Paper’s Newport Mill is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to handle high-voltage distribution, motors and drives, and control systems. The role involves wiring, replacing faulty components, and supporting industrial equipment in a team setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and an Electrical Journeyman background with 4 years of apprenticeship or related experience; rotating shifts and safety compliance are expected.

Qualifications

• Electrical journeyman apprenticeship or helper experience; associate degree in Industrial Maintenance optional.
• Willing to work all shifts and rotating schedule.
• Able to operate in industrial conditions and wear safety gear.

Responsibilities

• Install wire and conduit for equipment such as conveyors and machinery.
• Replace faulty electrical components (relays, switches, motors, sensors).
• Assist industrial mechanic as needed.
• Work with high-voltage distribution and control systems (DCS, PLCs, PCs).
• Collaborate in a team environment.

Position Responsibilities:

• Electronics
• High-voltage and power distribution
• AC motors and drives, DC motors and drives
• Control systems: DCS, PLC’s, PC’s and analytical equipment
• Ability to work in team environment
• Installing wire and conduit for newly and existing equipment such as conveyors, programmable controllers, converting and corrugating machinery.
• Replacing faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices such as proximity switch timer, scanners and photoelectric devices.
• Assist industrial mechanic as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school graduate or GED equivalent

  Electrical Journeyman must have 4 years of electrical apprenticeship or helper experience, or an Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance.

• Electrical Journeyman must have one of the following
• Industrial Technology degree
• Certificate from accredited college or trade school
• (2) years Industrial maintenance experience

1. Willing and capable of working all shifts

In addition, qualified candidates must be willing to meet the following requirements: Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment; Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment; Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule; Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification as needed; Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis; Wear required safety equipment; Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection).

Compensation & Benefits:

The hourly rate for a Journeyman Electrician is $39.53- $43.20.
