Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Technician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical systems and devices within the plant
- Knowledge and solid understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Edit PLC programming
- Diagnose component issues
- Assist in new installations and upgrades of plant equipment
- Conduct process checks as required
- Perform regular safety inspections of ovens
- Work with and lead outside contractors as needed to complete projects or various plant maintenance functions
- Keep work area safe, clean, and organized
- Assist and support other production floor operations as required
- Keep Manufacturing Supervisors and Manufacturing Managers informed of the operational status of equipment
- Complete all administrative tasks, including logbooks, data entry, and record keeping in proper order
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6–10 years manufacturing experience
- Ability to work overtime or weekends if necessary (for projects)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of variable speed drives (programming and set-up)
- Experience with high pressure hydraulics and pneumatics
- Experience with automated material handling systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Experience troubleshooting magnetic controls (e.g., switches, relays, solenoids)
- Knowledge and experience terminating transformers and electric motors
- Understanding of OSHA electrical safe work practices (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70 Electrical Code, NFPA 79 Machinery Standards)
- Basic troubleshooting and calibration for electronics
- Basic knowledge of servo and stepper motors and drives
- Experience with installing and fashioning electrical conduit and wireways and related hangers
- Able to use DVM, analog multimeters, Amprobe, megger, oscilloscope, and soldering station
- Preferred Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology or Journeyman’s card
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Experience programming and setting up Allen Bradley PLCs
- Logix 5000-based systems
- SLC 500
- PLC-5
- Experience with HMI Programming and setup
- Rockwell PV and PV+
- Automation Direct, C-More Touch Panels
- Knowledge of PLC Network programming and setup (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP)
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach; may balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- May lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Stand and/or sit for 8–12 hour shifts
Working Conditions
- Generally works in a plant environment
- Exposure to light lifting, warehouse and forklift traffic
- Production noise level is frequently loud
