Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Electrician role based in Grand Rapids, MI. The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment throughout healthcare facilities, ensuring safe and reliable power for clinical and support operations. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical issues, performing inspections, reading and interpreting blueprints and technical diagrams, and completing preventive maintenance tasks. The role involves collaborating with facilities, clinical, and safety teams to schedule work, minimize disruption to patient care, and comply with applicable codes and regulations. The Electrician documents work performed, maintains accurate records, and follows all safety protocols and Corewell Health policies.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment, panels, circuits, lighting, and control systems in complex facilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety practices, including adherence to electrical codes, NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and hospital-specific safety procedures.
• Effective problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clinical, facilities, and vendor teams and provide concise updates.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces or at heights, with appropriate protective equipment.
• Relevant electrician license or journeyperson certification as required by Michigan regulations; additional healthcare or facilities certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience in healthcare, commercial, or industrial electrical work is preferred; familiarity with hospital environments is beneficial.
