Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved course in applied electricity.
  • 4 years of experience as an electrician apprentice or equivalent in a plant/substation environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of the trial period.
  • Residency within 45 minutes of headquarters.
  • DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements apply.

Responsibilities

  • Constructs substations and maintains electrical equipment to ensure continuous service.
  • Installs and maintains high voltage cables and protective equipment.
  • Rebuilds or enlarges substations and installs new equipment.
  • Installs and maintains signal and communication equipment.
  • Performs large power meter installations for major customers.
  • May direct electricians' helpers and apprentices on site.
  • Works on energized lines with live-line maintenance tools.
  • Keeps records and prepares reports as required.

Candidates will be considered for openings at these locations based on business needs and availability.Job SummaryConstructs substations and maintains the electrical and related equipment of a substation.What you will doConstructs substations and maintains the electrical and related equipment of a substation in proper condition to give continuous satisfactory service.Installs and maintains high voltage cables.In some cases, rebuilds or enlarges substations and installs new equipment.Installs and maintains signal and communication equipment.Makes large power meter installations for large power customers.May direct the work of an electrician's helper, electrician apprentice, laborer semi-skilled, and occasional temporary help.Works on energized lines and equipment. Works with live line maintenance tools.
