Job summary

Accuride Corporation in Erie, PA is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to install, repair and maintain electrical equipment across the plant. The role requires reading blueprints, troubleshooting complex systems and ensuring safe, compliant operation.

Job description

Primary Function: - Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment;
calibrating, testing and adjusting all types of burners and electrical, pneumatic or mechanical
devices throughout the facility.

Tools and Equipment - Wrenches, hammers, pliers, cranes, fork trucks, hand tools, standard
control charts, power tools, air tools, hydraulic tools, hydraulic jacks, man lifts, oil & waste
handling equipment, lubrication equipment, gauges, computers, PLC interface devices, keypad
and touch screen control panels, robots, teach pendant, electrical testing and measuring
equipment, precision instrument and testing equipment, brazing/soldering equipment light
rigging equipment, safety equipment and other tools and equipment necessary for the
performance of the job.

Materials Handled - Machine parts, cables, slings, chains, paints, waste materials, chemicals,
thermocouples, spare parts, greases, oils, all general maintenance electrical equipment,
switches, VFDs, electric motors, control devices and equipment, meters, relays, fixtures, wiring supplies, electronic equipment and devices, transformers, various instrumentation, gauges,
pyrometers, solder, repair parts and other materials as assigned.

Working Procedures:

1. Performs all work in a manner that conforms to the safety and environmental policies of the
   Company; adheres to all ISO 14001 and TS 16949 standards and procedures.
   
2. Accomplishes duties with a minimum of supervision.
   
3. Completes documentation, checklists, work orders, and other records as required.
   
4. Maintains overhead crane electrical systems; control transformers; transformers > 600 Volts;
   motors/drives; electronic motor controllers; electronic position controllers (transducers,
   encoders); electronic transmitters; emergency lighting systems; emergency generators; grounding
   systems; indicator lights, gauges and meters; interconnecting wiring/cable runs; lighting systems;
   motor starters; operators alarms (machinery); plugs, receptacles; breakers and extension cords;
   recorders; switches; panel filtration and environmental controls; electric fork truck and charging
   systems; battery back-up systems; overhead crane control systems; remote control systems; robotic
   systems and end effectors.
   
5. Installs and maintains clutches and brakes; AC/DC motors; instrument components; raceways and conduits; and wiring and cables.
   
6. Performs preventive, predictive, and repetitive maintenance on equipment and components as required.
   
7. Performs work on robots, DC drives, variable frequency drives, PLCs, operator interface devices, and other electronic equipment as necessary.
   
8. Supports facilities electrical systems; performs new electrical installations as required.
   
9. Works on low and medium voltage equipment following NEC, NFPA, or ANSI guidelines.
   
10. Installs or removes any component required to maintain or repair equipment, facilities, or high voltage support systems.
    
11. Activates and adjusts the operation of robots as required.
    
12. Lays-out, dismantles, installs, repairs, and tests electrical apparatus, fixtures, control equipment, and wiring throughout the plant.
    
13. Works with personal computers, operator interface and other PLC devices as required.
    
14. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and charts to install, remove, repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment.
    
15. Evaluates wiring schematics, PLC programs, CNC programs, and robot programs for troubleshooting and repair.
    
16. Conducts basic failure analysis on all equipment as necessary.
    
17. Dismantles, alters, assembles, constructs, installs and maintains instruments, controls,
    gauges, analyzers, timing devices, and all other necessary testing equipment.
    
18. Conducts thermal and other heating surveys and investigations; maintains records of operations as required.
    
19. Assembles and maintains thermocouples; utilizes welding and soldering equipment for construction and repair of thermocouples and other equipment needed for instrument maintenance.
    
20. Makes a periodic check for accuracy of thermocouples and furnace controls and record
    results of tests; keeps furnace surfaces clean and free of debris.
    
21. Loads and monitors furnace temperature surveys as required.
    
22. Changes recorder charts as required by production.
    
23. Maintains electronic testing equipment and calibrates to Company standards; calibrates
    electronic gauges, instruments and other components as required.
    
24. Analyzes all types of instrument diagrams to determine material or replacement needs and
    to select a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair issues.
    
25. Operates mobile equipment; fork trucks; mobile cranes; man lift and overhead cranes.
    
26. Completes assembly work as assigned by supervision.
    
27. Performs miscellaneous pipe work (ex. cutting and threading) as needed.
    
28. Completes light rigging tasks as needed.
    
29. Assists or performs training of other personnel on job duties as directed by Supervisor.
    
30. Keeps working area in a clean and orderly condition; ensures waste material is placed in
    proper containers and is labeled accordingly.
    
31. Performs other duties conducive to assuring optimum productivity within the plant as the
    need arises, and other duties as assigned by supervision.
    

Note: An Electrician will serve as the primary back-up for the performance of Instrument
Technician duties when incumbent is unavailable (due to vacation, leave of absence, 3rd
consecutive weekend, etc.).
