Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an Electrician to support the East Point yard. The role involves electrical installations, modifications, and repairs with emphasis on safety and code compliance.

You will interpret drawings, work with live circuits under strict lockout/tagout procedures, and collaborate with yard staff to maintain efficient operations. Qualified candidates have journeyman-level experience or an electrical accreditation, plus the ability to communicate in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively; understand directions; use basic math.
• Thorough understanding of electrical principles, installations, safety practices, and industrial troubleshooting.
• Electrical accreditation from a trade school/college or journeyman level experience.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical conduit with professional quality installation standards.
• Install conduit above and below grade and attach to steel structure in a multilevel platform.
• Trouble shoots electrical issues with equipment (motors, fuses, transformers, PLCs, motor control drives, etc.).
• Repair circuits in a safe and timely manner.
• Follow procedures during electrical emergencies and lockout/tagout.
• Read sketches/diagrams and blueprints to locate wiring and equipment per codes.
• Safe use of multi-meters and high voltage testing equipment; PPE for electricians.
• Maintain organization and housekeeping for safety and efficiency.
• Ensure cleanup and waste disposal per safety guidelines.

Job description

At SA Recycling ,we have an immediate need for an Electrician to support East Point Yard. The electrician supports the facility by providing electrical installations, modifications, and repairs. The electrician provides a specialized labor that comes from knowledge of relevant codes, journeyman level qualifications, or certificate of achievement.

Job Duties

Including, but not limited to:

Install electrical conduit with professional quality installation standards.
Install the conduit above and below grade and attach to steel structure in a multilevel platform.

• Trouble shoots electrical issues with equipment e.g. motors, fuses, transformers, PLC’s, motor control drives, and demand switches.
• Repair circuits as needed in a safe and timely manner.
• Work with all non-live circuits and with “lock out tag out try out” applied.
• Able to follow procedures in the event of an electrical emergency.
• Work with other employees in the area working on a different task.
• Sketch simple diagrams and reads blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Safe use of multi-meters, high voltage test equipment, static discharge tools, and other electrical safety tools
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members. Clean up work area at the end of shift
  

Qualifications

• Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.

• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
• A thorough understanding of electrical principles, professional installations, safety practices, and industrial electrical troubleshooting
• An electrical accreditation from an electrical trade school or college or at least journeyman level trade experience
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction written or oral, electrical diagrams (draft plans), and use mathematics as the job demands

Physical Requirements

• Work Environment: Scrap yard, large equipment metal processing area
  Equipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians
  Physical Demand Level: Moderate
  Work Capacity: Lifting & carrying 35lb loads, bending, kneeling, awkward positions, long periods on feet
  Sensory Demands: Hearing, vision, smell, touch and taste Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping, twisting
