Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) is hiring a licensed Electrician to lead and support the development, testing, and maintenance of our facility electrical systems in a large-scale retail environment. You will troubleshoot power distribution, install and upgrade wiring, and collaborate with contractors to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Required are a Master Electrician or Electrical Contractor license, 7+ years of relevant experience, and strong NEC knowledge.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Master Electrician License or Electrical Contractor License
  • 7+ years of commercial, industrial, facility, manufacturing, distribution, or large-scale retail electrical experience
  • Advanced knowledge of NEC and electrical safe work practices
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical and electronic control systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Pre-employment screening includes criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Oversee troubleshooting of electrical systems including power distribution, panels, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, motor controls, lighting controls, building automation, and HVAC electrical controls
  • Repair and maintain facility electrical systems for safe, reliable daily operations
  • Install conduit, wiring, controls, equipment, and system upgrades meeting NEC requirements
  • Partner with contractors, facilities leadership, and maintenance team to support projects and resolve issues
  • Inspect completed work, identify reliability risks, and recommend long-term corrective actions
  • Mentor maintenance team through coaching, training, and hands-on support

Job Duties: A Day in the Life
  • Oversee: Take ownership of troubleshooting electrical systems, including power distribution, panels, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, motor controls, lighting controls, building automation, and HVAC electrical controls
  • Restore: Repair and maintain facility electrical systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations
  • Connect: Install conduit, wiring, controls, equipment, and system upgrades that align with NEC requirements and company standards
  • Manage: Partner with contractors, Facilities leadership, and maintenance team members to support projects and resolve complex issues
  • Check: Inspect completed work, identify reliability risks, and recommend long-term corrective actions that strengthen performance
  • Lead: Mentor maintenance team members through coaching, training, and hands‑on technical support
