Job summary

Leggett & Platt, Inc. is seeking a Master Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in our wire mill division. You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, and ensure compliance with NEC and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience, proficiency with VFD/PLC, and the ability to work nights with potential day shifts. This on-site role requires strong teamwork and communication skills in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of 480V three-phase AC and 240/500VDC; VFD/PLC.
  • Familiarity with NEC and local electrical codes.
  • Willingness to work nights with potential day shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting and control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Safely operate electrical tools and equipment such as multimeters.
  • Follow OSHA safety programs, PPE and plant safety practices.

Leggett and Platt Wire Mill Division has an immediate opening for a Master Electrician

Technical skills
  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, lighting and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrarms and schematics.
  • Advance skills in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues efficiently.
  • Expertise in using various electrical tools and equipment, such as multimeters, and hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of 480 volt, three-phase AC, 240/500 VDC. VFD and PLC.
  • In-depth understanding of the NEC and local electrical codes to ensure compliance and safety.
Safety
  • Knowledge in OSHA safety programs such as LO/TO, Arc Flash, Confined Space Entry, Proper PPE, Machine Safety and plant wide safety awareness.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety standards and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure safe working environments.
  • Follow best practices for installing and maintaining electrical systems to prevent accidents, including proper grounding, circuit protection, and adherence to specific guidelines.
  • Emergency prepardness by having a clear plan in place, knowing how to shut off power quickly.
  • Will be required to work in hot and cold environments.
  • May at times be exposed to weather elements.
  • May at times be exposed to work in wet conditions.
Education
  • Must have 3-5 years of on the job experience in the trained area, or the successful completion of a technical program in electrical training.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing is preferred.

  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to work as as team and individually to complete projects
  • Ability to work nights with the possibility of day shift openings as they become available.
