Job description

Job Summary

EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a 1st shift Electrician in Bethesda, MD (6:00 am – 2:30 pm Monday – Friday). The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR facility manager and support him/her to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities of this position are to be responsible for the electrical needs and general facility maintenance at the facility while performing general maintenance of equipment as required. Knowledge of and capable to perform electrical repairs and various general tasks assigned. Qualified applicants must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in facilities electrical maintenance and dealing with a wide range of general type services. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Communicates effectively with the Facility Manager to determine service needs.
  • Coordinates and supervises client sub‑contractors while performing service on site.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking to ensure correct solutions are implemented for building electrical systems.
  • Possesses hands‑on expertise in navigating electrical systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, operating power and hand tools, and interpreting blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications.
  • Maintains a strict electrical PM schedule, including but not limited to UPS & PDU systems, emergency generators, lighting systems, A/C and heating equipment.
  • Performs a wide variety of electrical corrective maintenance work requests such as ballast and bulb replacements, switches, outlets, breakers, interior/exterior/parking garage lighting, etc.
  • Assists other skilled employees to perform projects as requested and assists in snow removal when necessary.
  • Performs monitoring of the building automation computer system to ensure equipment is running and building temperature conditions are in range.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma (or higher).
  • 3–5 years of experience related to electrical facility maintenance.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Electrical license (Apprentice or Journeyman) desired and a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
Technical Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing basic computer skills and communicate via e‑mail and internet use.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment such as UPSs, PDUs, motors, VFDs, electrical panels, breakers, circuits, outlets, fixtures, lighting systems, etc.
  • Must maintain a strict electrical PM schedule and assist in the maintenance of all mechanical and facility operations equipment as needed.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally assist in the repair of various types of facility equipment such as air handling equipment, vent fans, circulation fans, boilers, HW heaters, pumps, FCUs, kitchen equipment, etc.
  • Organization skills to maintain client facility maintenance records and reports.
  • Must perform monitoring of the building automation computer system to ensure equipment is running and building temperature conditions are in range. Monitoring and operating the client CMMS system for PMs and work orders.
Physical Demands

The ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, walk the facility throughout the day, kneel repetitively during the shift, move in a 90‑degree fashion on a repetitive basis, and maneuver on a variety of terrains including shoveling snow when required. Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Work Environment

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise. May be required to work in confined, restricted and hot areas. Snow removal responsibilities require time spent outdoors in cold/snow conditions. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays when required.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $32/hr – $39/hr. This position is not bonus or commission eligible.
