Qualifications

• N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Red Seal with a 3 Phase Wireman's License (advantageous)
• Experience in wiring, PLC programming, electrical drawings, and electrical maintenance
• Must be qualified, have own transport, and hold a Red Seal qualification

Responsibilities

• Manage production staff and oversee their daily activities; cost new designs and establish BOM, process data, and layouts for manufacturing
• Continuously assess raw material prices from suppliers and sub-contractors

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent

BASIC SALARY: R22 000 – R27 000 (Depending on experience)

REQUIREMENTS

• N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Qualified Electrician - Red Seal with a 3 Phase Wireman's License PLC Installation and Programming (advantageous) Experience in wiring, PLC programming, electrical drawings, and electrical maintenance

DUTIES

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

• Manage production staff and oversee their daily activities. Cost new designs and establish Bill of Materials (BOM), process data, and layouts for manufacturing.
• Continuously assess raw material prices from suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Approve orders for all bulk materials based on current stock levels and projected forecasts.
• Control quality costs and conduct final inspection and approval of products.
• Ensure personnel are adequately trained and qualified for their respective roles; identify and arrange necessary training needs.
• Improve personnel skills and promote self-discipline in line with company policies and regulations.
• Foster improved communication and effective coordination throughout the company.
• Ensure all relevant staff work according to fixed targets.
• Handle and chair disciplinary actions and hearings in accordance with the company's disciplinary code.
• Motivate personnel and manage Human Resources functions including recruitment, termination of contracts, and planning of staff requirements.
• Handle all union-related issues and maintain sound industrial relations.
• Keep accurate records of all personnel information.
• Ensure a safe workplace for all staff, chair safety meetings, and investigate injuries and incidents.

Safety Responsibilities

• Ensure all staff use their issued safety equipment, wear company overalls, and maintain them.
• Investigate incidents of injury on duty (IODs) and implement preventative actions.
• Report all safety hazards to the Production Director.
• Attend safety meetings, conduct safety inspections, and compile reports.
• Oversee plant electrical maintenance, including checking and repairing electrical hand tools, machinery, welding machines, extension leads, and DB boards.
• Ensure compliance with all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Address all safety non-conformances immediately; elevate unresolved issues to directors.
• Carry out continual development of process optimization to ensure safety standards are met.

Stock Taking

• Monitor daily stock levels of consumables and wires to ensure that current work-in-progress (WIP) has necessary parts.
• Assist with stock take on the last Saturday of each month.
• Count and maintain records for products, equipment, assets, production tools, machinery, raw materials, WIP, consumables, and parts.

Housekeeping

• Ensure that staff clean their workstations and restrooms daily.
• Organize the flow of materials and parts through the system to prevent bottlenecks.

Special Needs

• Design and program PLCs and touch screen control systems (TSC).
• Design and test switchboards and chassis.
• Perform electrical design and drafting using CAD, Revit, and SketchUp; update wiring diagrams and associated documents.
• Must be willing to work extra hours when required to meet project deadlines.
• Own transport is required.
