Job Description

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of electrical manufacturing operations. This position provides direct leadership and development to Electrical Supervisors, ensuring that electrical production teams consistently achieve organizational expectations for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

This role requires a strong operational leader who can balance daily production execution with longer-term workforce development, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination. The Electrical Production Manager is expected to proactively identify and remove barriers to production by partnering closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Materials, Quality, Planning, and other Production Managers.

Working collaboratively with the Electrical Integration Specialist, this position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enforcing consistent electrical manufacturing standards, ensuring that installations meet engineering specifications, applicable electrical requirements, customer expectations, and internal quality standards.

The successful candidate will develop capable, accountable supervisors who independently lead their teams, anticipate challenges, and drive performance. The Electrical Production Manager must operate beyond the immediate needs of the electrical department, understanding how electrical readiness, labor utilization, material availability, and production sequencing affect the performance of the entire manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability to Electrical Supervisors, ensuring they effectively manage daily operations, team performance, and production expectations.
  • Develop supervisors' capabilities in planning, prioritization, problem-solving, communication, performance management, and decision-making.
  • Establish clear performance expectations for supervisors and conduct regular reviews of individual and departmental results.
  • Ensure supervisors consistently communicate daily and weekly production goals and hold their teams accountable for achieving them.
  • Build leadership depth through succession planning, cross-training, mentoring, and the identification of high-potential team members.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Training to identify skill gaps, implement development plans, and establish training priorities.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, performance expectations, recognition programs, and progressive discipline.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop supervisors who resolve routine operational issues independently while escalating risks that require additional support or cross-functional decisions.
  • Monitor production output, labor efficiency, and material usage; take corrective actions to meet productivity, quality, and cost targets.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and expectations.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members; provide feedback, discipline, and recognition as needed.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Materials, and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and resolve production issues.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics such as throughput, scrap, rework, and downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, attendance, and incidents.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, lean manufacturing practices, and 5S initiatives.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and cross-training of production staff.
  • Establish and reinforce a proactive safety culture throughout electrical manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure supervisors enforce safe electrical work practices, PPE requirements, equipment safety procedures, and applicable company policies.
  • Ensure electrical installations comply with approved engineering drawings, customer specifications, applicable codes, and established workmanship standards.
  • Partner with Quality and the Electrical Integration Specialist to establish inspection checkpoints, standard installation methods, and verification requirements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions for electrical defects, rework, and recurring quality issues.
  • Hold supervisors accountable for quality at the source rather than relying solely on downstream inspections.
  • Monitor first-pass quality, rework hours, and recurring nonconformances.
  • Proactively identify electrical readiness concerns and elevate risks before they affect downstream operations, testing, or shipment.
  • Coordinate with other Production Managers to align priorities, resources, and sequencing to achieve overall plant throughput goals.
  • Establish recovery plans when production falls behind schedule and communicate the impact to affected stakeholders.
  • Partner with Engineering and Purchasing to identify cost-effective solutions without compromising safety, quality, or customer requirements.
  • Ensure supervisors understand the relationship between daily decisions, labor utilization, and overall manufacturing costs.
  • Ensure applicable National Electrical Code (NEC), customer specifications, and relevant UL requirements are incorporated into electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Work with the Electrical Integration Specialist and Engineering to resolve technical issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure approved electrical standards are reflected in training, work instructions, inspection requirements, and production practices.
  • Translate master production schedules into achievable electrical production plans with clearly defined milestones, labor requirements, and completion expectations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in generator packaging, power distribution equipment, industrial control panels, data center infrastructure, or related electrical integration environments.
  • Familiarity with NEC and applicable UL standards.
  • Experience implementing standardized electrical manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and labor efficiency initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success improving throughput, reducing rework, and developing supervisory leadership.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and first-article manufacturing.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical assembly.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and use of manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, and manufacturing environments.
