Job summary

Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work arrangement for a role focused on design, modification, and upgrade of power plant electrical systems. You will develop single-line, relay, metering diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring layouts under the Electrical Project Lead, coordinating with engineers and vendors.

The position requires an Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent, 5+ years in wiring design for medium voltage systems, and strong AutoCAD/Microstation experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with equivalent technical design experience.
  • Five or more years of wiring design experience for single-line, relay and metering diagrams (MV/480V).
  • Familiarity with electrical layout drawings and equipment interfaces.
  • Experience with digital control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
  • Review and incorporate vendor drawings into overall project design.
  • Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on power plant electrical systems.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements and convey termination needs.
  • Engage in field walks and data gathering as needed.

Responsibilities

This position will require a hybrid work arrangement.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work and lead others in a project team environment in the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems.

Under the direction of the Electrical Project Lead, you will work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in the development of the following:

* Single-line diagrams

* Relay and metering diagrams

* AC and DC schematic diagrams

* Synchronizing diagrams

* Point to point wiring diagrams

* Cable schedules

* Grounding Layout

You will produce electrical wiring drawings, and review and incorporate vendor drawings into the overall project design.

There will be opportunities to accompany and assist in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.

Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
  • Five or more years of detailed wiring design experience in the development of single-line, and relay and metering diagrams, including medium-voltage and 480V systems.
  • Experience in the review of electrical layout drawings involving electrical equipment outlines and interface points.
  • Familiarity with digital control systems.
  • The ability to perform the following:
  • Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
  • Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements.
  • Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
  • A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
  • The ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

$64,817 - $93,201
