J&M Products, Inc. seeks an Electrical Wire Harness Inspector to perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and related components against drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and customer requirements.

The role requires reading schematics, inspecting crimped and soldered joints, connectors, labeling, routing, and harness workmanship to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards; documenting results and supporting nonconforming material containment, root-cause analysis,

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of wire harness and cable assembly inspection practices in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, work instructions, bills of material, and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of wire preparation, crimping, soldering, connector systems, contact insertion and removal, sealing, shielding, and cable-routing workmanship.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer workmanship requirements; certification is preferred.
  • Ability to use magnification, crimp-height tools, pull-test equipment, and basic electrical test equipment.
  • Understanding of continuity, pin-to-pin, polarity, and insulation-resistance testing.
  • Understanding of ESD, FOD, configuration control, traceability, and calibration requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, first article inspection, nonconforming material controls, and corrective action.
  • Strong attention to detail, defect-recognition ability, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate inspection results clearly with Production, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, electronic inspection records, and quality management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and related electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, wire lists, bills of material, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Inspect wire preparation, strip lengths, crimp terminations, solder joints, splices, connector assembly, pinning, sealing, labeling, routing, shielding, and heat-shrink installation.
  • Verify workmanship to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer specifications; report nonconforming material.
  • Use calibrated inspection equipment and basic electrical test equipment.
  • Record inspection results accurately and support first article inspection and lot acceptance.
  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming product; communicate discrepancies to Production, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Ensure calibration status of equipment before use; report damaged or questionable equipment.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, safety, and handling requirements; support root-cause and corrective-action activities.

Job description

Performs receiving, in-process, and final inspection of electrical wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and related components to verify compliance with drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, work instructions, and customer quality requirements.

  • Performs receiving, in-process, and final inspection of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and related electrical components.
  • Reads and interprets electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, wire lists, bills of material, work instructions, and applicable specifications.
  • Inspects wire preparation, strip lengths, crimp terminations, solder joints, splices, connector assembly, pinning, sealing, labeling, routing, shielding, and heat-shrink installation.
  • Verifies workmanship to applicable requirements, including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer specifications, as required by the job.
  • Uses calibrated inspection equipment, magnification, crimp-height measurement tools, pull-test equipment, and other inspection devices as trained and qualified.
  • Performs or verifies continuity, pin-to-pin, insulation resistance, and other basic electrical tests as required by the inspection plan and work instructions.
  • Verifies wire gauge, color, identification, connector and contact part numbers, hardware, revision level, and required traceability information.
  • Records inspection results accurately and supports first article inspection, lot acceptance, and other required quality documentation.
  • Identifies, documents, and segregates nonconforming product and communicates discrepancies to Production, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Verifies inspection and test equipment is within calibration status before use and reports damaged or questionable equipment.
  • Follows ESD, FOD, safety, and handling requirements and supports root-cause, corrective-action, and continuous-improvement activities.

Education & experience
