Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Enrollment in an electrical maintenance, industrial technology, or related program.
  • Experience safely using basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on motors, drives, sensors, control panels, and related equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical and control system issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with testing electrical circuits, motors, and equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools.
  • Learn and follow all electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Electrical Safe Work Practices.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete assigned documentation.
  • Work with mentors and supervisors to complete apprenticeship training requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in all work areas.

Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Trainee for our Rincon, GA facility. The Electrical Trainee works under the guidance of experienced electrical technicians to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to troubleshoot, maintain, install, and repair electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment. This position is designed to develop electrical maintenance knowledge and skills through a combination of hands-on work, technical training, and guided learning experiences focused on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

In this role you will work in an industrial manufacturing environment where you will be exposed to heat, noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces will be required with or without reasonable accommodation.

The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. The ability to learn quickly and apply technical concepts. Effective communication and teamwork skills, dependability, initiative, and a willingness to accept coaching and feedback.

Our Team

Our Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world-class operation in the industry. Five of the world's 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. What You Will Do
