Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections seeks an Electrical Teacher at Keen Mountain Correctional Center to deliver Career and Technical instruction in the electrical trade. You will support inmates in achieving competencies, manage labs safely, and keep accurate student records.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2 years or 2000 hours of related experience, and a valid electrical license with teaching eligibility.

Qualifications

• The ability to engage students in one-on-one teaching and work with students and inmate aides in a classroom/Lab environment.
• The ability to maintain accurate records; Knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education.
• Must possess working knowledge of basic adult education field, adult literacy, and computer software appropriate for program needs.
• Experience in maintaining classroom, equipment, and inventories; Demonstrate competency in the related field of current trade licensure.

Responsibilities

• To provide effective Career and Technical instruction in the assigned trade area; to assist assigned students to complete the required competencies for that trade area; demonstrate effective classroom or lab management; ensure that the lab is operated in compliance with all aspect of safety management; and to maintain accurate and current students records for the assigned student.
