Job description

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking an Electrical Tester – 3rd Shift to join our team in South Milwaukee, WI. The hourly rate for this position is $29.60 plus a $2.50 shift differential per hour. The core hours are 10:30pm – 6:30am. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you’ll do

The Electrical Tester sets up, operates, and maintains a variety of test equipment to perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical tests on control equipment. Electrical Testers progress from entry level to more advanced roles following the documented timeline in the test book.

  • Test equipment to ensure it meets customer specifications as well as safety and quality requirements under supervision.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others and enforce safety procedures.
  • Evolve product and process knowledge through classroom work, assigned reading, and training from a senior Electrical Tester or Engineer.
  • Build positive relationships that support job objectives and a collaborative team environment.
  • Develop rapport with customers and serve as the primary interface for witness tests under supervision of a senior tester.
  • Record data, write reports, and process paperwork timely, accurately, and with accountability.
  • Follow procedures with accuracy, efficiency, and strict attention to detail.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various problems that may arise during testing, including warranty and non‑warranty issues, by applying critical thinking and collaborating with senior staff.
  • Continuously improve work processes and suggest enhancements to test setups and procedures when needed.
  • Recognize and report quality issues through the correct channels as they arise.
  • Perform electrical testing or service work on equipment ranging from 5VDC to 30kVAC three‑phase power.
  • Assist Design and Application Engineers with special test projects.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related accredited field.
  • Previous experience with electrical concepts such as electricity, motors and controls, PLC programming, and the fundamentals of AC/DC.
  • Candidate must not require immigration sponsorship or relocation assistance; only those within a 50‑mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active‑Duty military service members are exempt from the geographical limitation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with protective relays.
  • Previous troubleshooting experience of electrical and/or mechanical problems.
  • Previous work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting techniques and test equipment operation.
  • Strong knowledge of the company's electrical, electronic, and mechanical products.
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to electrical and electronic work.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in customer relationships to assure long‑term satisfaction.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, and kneeling, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to lift, hold, push, pull, and handle up to 35pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
