Job summary

Lake Cable, LLC in Valparaiso, IN is seeking a Night Shift Cable Tester to perform electrical tests on various cables using AC and DC equipment. This role requires working 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, Monday through Friday with Saturdays as needed.

You will follow SOPs, test prep, and ensure quality before shipping, maintaining safety and accurate documentation. The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED and some manufacturing experience; basic electrical test knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Knowledge of basic electrical test equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Locate reels needing to be tested, per Supervisor priority.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow safety procedures when applying voltage.
• Determine the correct voltage or test for each cable type.
• Complete paperwork and documentation in computer systems.
• Prepare ends of cable for next process.
• Address and resolve test failures before moving to the next operation.
• Coordinate with Re-spool to remove faults and retest.
• Escalate issues outside of authority as needed.

Job Summary

This role performs electrical tests on various types of electrical cables, using both AC and DC voltage test equipment.

Night shift: Mon-Friday. 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, Saturdays as Needed

Position Summary:

Following standard operating procedures for all cable types, 100% electrically tests all cable prior to shipping or current test plans for product routed through the FOC lab

Essential Functions:

• Locate reels needing to be tested, in accordance with the priority established by the Supervisor
• Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe work environment. Follow all safety procedures including moving the reels correctly, and ensuring that all procedures are followed when applying voltage to the cable or performing any required test.
• Determine the correct voltage or applicable test to be applied for the respective cable
• Complete adequately all paperwork and documentation in computer systems.
• Prepare ends of cable for next process
• If cable fails any test, the failure must be addressed and resolved before moving to the next operation
• Work with Re-spool personnel to address necessary steps for removing faults before retesting cable
• Complete adequately all paperwork and documentation in computer systems.
• Escalate issues outside of his/her authority to a higher level

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of electrical meters and testers such as a Continuity tester, Hipot machine, Fault Finder and Insulation Resistance tester.
• Can add and subtract when completing fault find documentation and following order protocols.
• Understand and follow SOPs/Job aides and perform them effectively.

• The ability to read and communicate information and ideas both in spoken and written form in English
