Job summary

Protingent is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer in Irvine, CA to develop and integrate a CRSM test setup. The role focuses on coordinating hardware and software components to run repeatable test sequences at our Southern California facility.

You will work with Cirris testers, DC power supplies, CAN communications, and harness testing, documenting setup and procedures while providing hands-on on-site engineering support.

Qualifications

• Hands-on electrical engineering experience integrating existing test equipment and software.
• Strong knowledge of DC power supply configuration and load integration.
• Experience with CAN communication protocols and harness testing.

Responsibilities

• Establish reliable communication between Cirris tester and other components of the test system.
• Configure and control DC power supplies to provide the required operating voltages to the module.
• Connect and control electrical loads to simulate the module’s operating conditions.
• Integrate CAN communication hardware and software to communicate with the module and monitor its operation.
• Coordinate test sequences to execute procedures in a controlled, repeatable manner.
• Document the setup, wiring, operating conditions, and expected results.

Position Title: Electrical Test Engineer – CRSM Test Setup & Integration

Position Description: Protingent has an exciting contract opportunity for an Electrical Test Engineer to Irvine, CA.

Job Description: Seeking a skilled Electrical Test Engineer to assist with developing and integrating a test setup for a Common Remote Switching Module (CRSM). The successful candidate will focus on integrating existing test equipment and software into a coordinated electrical test system rather than replacing the entire system. Applying principles of test engineering and automation, you will coordinate hardware and software components to execute test sequences in a controlled, repeatable manner at our facility in Irvine, Southern California.

Job Responsibilities

• Cirris Tester Integration: Establish reliable communication between the Cirris tester and other components of the test system.
• Power Supply Integration: Configure and control DC power supplies to provide the required operating voltages to the module.
• Electrical Load Integration: Connect and control electrical loads to simulate the module’s operating conditions.
• CAN Communication: Integrate CAN communication hardware and software to communicate with the module and monitor its operation.
• Test Automation: Coordinate equipment and software so the test sequence can be executed in a controlled, repeatable manner.
• Test Procedure Development: Document the setup, wiring, operating conditions, and expected results.

Job Qualifications

• Experience: Hands-on electrical engineering experience integrating existing test equipment and software.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical load integration, DC power supply configuration, and test sequence coordination.
• Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of CAN communication protocols and harness/cable testing setup.
• Equipment Proficiency: Direct experience working with Cirris testers and automated power supply/load setups.
• Soft Skills: Strong technical documentation skills and ability to provide short-term, hands-on engineering assistance on-site.

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Prior experience developing test benches or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration for remote switching modules or automotive/aerospace control units.
