Job summary

ERMCO is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of transformer testing equipment for distribution transformers. The role requires technical ownership on complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring designs meet high standards of performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This onsite position is in Raleigh, NC with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; master's preferred.
• 5–6 years experience in electrical engineering, transformer testing/design.
• Experience from concept to production on design projects.
• Extensive experience with transformer testing and testing equipment.
• Familiar with IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with failure analysis and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical test systems for transformers and related equipment.
• Analyze performance to optimize cost and efficiency.
• Lead failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, QA, and supply chain.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Prepare design specs, test plans, and technical reports.
• Stay current with industry trends to drive innovation.
• Support safety and compliant test environments.
