Job description

This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Auriga Space is revolutionizing propulsion by developing electromagnetic launch systems that offer significant advantages in launch cost, reliability, frequency, and responsiveness compared to rockets

Role Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join our team and support the testing, validation, and qualification of high-power electronics and control systems that drive our electromagnetic launch platform. This role is hands‑on: setting up test equipment, instrumenting systems, executing established test procedures, collecting data, identifying abnormal behavior, and supporting troubleshooting activities.

The Test Engineer will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to evaluate prototypes, investigate failures, improve test setups, and help maintain reliable and repeatable test processes. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-power and high-voltage hardware, has strong attention to detail, and is interested in taking on increasing responsibility in test development, fixture improvement, data analysis, and system‑level troubleshooting in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform testing of power electronics assemblies, control circuits, and high‑voltage systems according to approved test procedures and work instructions.
  • Set up and operate test fixtures, cables, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and other laboratory equipment required for testing.
  • Use oscilloscopes, high‑voltage probes, power meters, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and related equipment to collect and evaluate test data.
  • Conduct functional, performance, and reliability testing of components, assemblies, and integrated systems under defined operating conditions.
  • Monitor test results, recognize abnormal behavior or failures, and work with engineers to troubleshoot, repeat tests, and identify root causes.
  • Support the development and improvement of test fixtures, setups, and data‑collection tools, and recommend practical changes that make testing safer, faster, and more repeatable.
  • Record test data accurately and maintain test logs, checklists, inspection records, test reports, non‑conformance reports, and corrective actions.
  • Follow electrical safety procedures and established practices when working with high‑voltage and high‑power equipment.
  • Maintain test equipment, fixtures, and the laboratory area in a safe, organized, and ready‑to‑use condition.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field; equivalent hands‑on technical experience may also be considered.
  • Good understanding of electrical circuits, electrical measurements, and basic power electronics concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience setting up and operating laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, high‑voltage probes, power meters/analyzers, and data acquisition equipment.
  • Ability to set up test fixtures, wiring, cables, sensors, and instrumentation according to test procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and test procedures.
  • Ability to execute functional and performance tests, accurately collect and document test data, and recognize abnormal system behavior or failures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow test procedures, work instructions, and electrical safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of relevant experience in electrical testing, electronics, manufacturing, laboratory operations, or hardware development.
  • Experience working with high‑voltage, high‑current, or high‑power electrical systems.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools for data analysis, test automation, or data collection.
  • Experience building, modifying, or improving electrical test fixtures and test setups.
  • Experience with automated test equipment, data acquisition systems, or automated test workflows.
  • Experience supporting failure analysis, root‑cause investigation, or non‑conformance activities.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor devices, power components, and analog and digital circuits.
  • Strong hands‑on troubleshooting skills, including supporting engineers with fault isolation and repeated testing.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
