Job description

Position Overview:

An established and rapidly growing engineering organization is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to support radiation effects testing of electronic components and systems. This role involves evaluating the radiation tolerance and system survivability of electronics in natural and man-made radiation environments, including terrestrial, airborne, and space-based applications. Most work supports the space and defense industries, with some projects involving nuclear environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong analog and digital circuit design experience to develop new skills in a highly specialized field. Radiation effects testing experience is not required—comprehensive training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement electrical test setups for a wide range of radiation effects testing scenarios.
  • Evaluate and analyze test data for validity, performance trends, and statistical relevance.
  • Document test procedures, results, and observations in detailed technical reports and test plans, including the effects of radiation on electronic parts and materials.
  • Perform functional and parametric testing of components such as diodes, transistors, capacitors, resistors, and memory devices.
  • Use data sheets to guide test configurations and performance validation.
  • Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design to develop and test custom circuitry as needed for testing protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; degrees in Engineering or Physics with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Candidates with a BSEET (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology) will be considered if they demonstrate strong relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience designing and testing analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, their functionality, and how they operate within a circuit.
  • Ability to test components based on data sheet specifications.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to project sensitivity and government compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with or experience using Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is a plus.
  • Exposure to military standards for radiation testing is beneficial but not required training will be provided.
  • Experience working with high-reliability electronics for space, defense, or nuclear applications.

Additional Information:

  • This role is focused on radiation effects testing of electronics used in satellites, ballistic systems, and other mission-critical platforms.
  • Candidates without radiation testing experience will be trained in industry-specific standards and methods.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience working in an electronics lab environment, designing and testing both analog and digital circuits, and be comfortable interpreting technical documentation and specifications.

This is a unique opportunity to join a specialized team working on innovative technologies that perform in the most challenging environments. If you have a strong foundation in electronics and are excited about growing into a niche field, we encourage you to apply.
