Job summary

Delta ModTech in Ramsey, MN is seeking an Electrical Technician Supervisor to lead a team of technicians, manage daily electrical builds, testing, and installations, and ensure safety and quality on schedule.

You will develop technicians through coaching, coordinate with Engineering, Project Management and Purchasing, and drive continuous improvement of processes while maintaining a productive, collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent.
• Extensive field and in-house experience in electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical prints (ladder prints), sketches, diagrams and blueprints.
• Experience in navigating Microsoft and/or industry specific software.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Electrical Technicians.
• Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, and schedule.
• Monitor electrical build schedules, labor needs, project milestones, and completion dates.
• Lead daily team meetings and communicate priorities, schedule changes, safety concerns, and project updates.
• Partner with Engineering to support manufacturability, electrical design improvements, and timely resolution of technical questions.

Position Profile:

The Electrical Technician Supervisorleads the day-to-day activities and performance of Delta ModTech’s Electrical Technician team. This position is responsible for creating a safe, productive, and positive work environment while ensuring electrical builds, machine wiring, testing, troubleshooting, installations, and related work are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role will provide direct people leadership, establishes work priorities, balances team capacity, monitors project progress, and works cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and other departments to address obstacles and support successful project delivery. This position develops technicians across all skill levels through coaching, feedback, training, and clear performance expectations.

The supervisor partners closely with senior-level Electrical Technicians for technical leadership and complex problem-solving while maintaining accountability for employee performance, staffing, work assignments, safety, quality, and departmental execution.

Essential Functions:

• People Leadership and Development
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Electrical Technicians.
• Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, and commitment to schedule.
• Conduct regular one-on-one conversations, performance reviews, and development discussions.
• Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback.
• Identify training needs and create development opportunities for technicians at all skill levels.
• Support onboarding and technical training for new employees.
• Partner with senior technicians to coordinate mentoring and skill development.
• Recognize strong performance and reinforce positive contributions.
• Address attendance, conduct, and performance concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with People & Culture.
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and open communication within the department.
• Production Planning and Execution
• Plan, assign, and monitor daily electrical production activities.
• Balance workloads based on technician capabilities, project priorities, and production requirements.
• Coordinate technician assignments across multiple concurrent machine builds, repairs, upgrades, and installations.
• Monitor electrical build schedules, labor needs, project milestones, and completion dates.
• Identify potential delays, resource constraints, and production risks.
• Escalate concerns and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate stakeholders.
• Lead daily team meetings and communicate priorities, schedule changes, safety concerns, and project updates.
• Ensure employees accurately track time and communicate progress.
• Support on-time completion of electrical work and overall project schedules.
• Coordinate overtime, travel, and field-support coverage based on business needs.
• Safety and Quality
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
• Ensure technicians follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, electrical standards, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Reinforce stop-work and escalation expectations when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure electrical builds meet Delta ModTech quality standards.
• Establish clear quality expectations and verify completion of required inspections and documentation.
• Partner with senior technicians and other departments to investigate quality concerns, electrical failures, and safety incidents.
• Develop and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring issues.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, workflow, and productivity.
• Ensure tools, equipment, work areas, and electrical production resources are properly maintained and organized.
• Technical and Cross-Functional Coordination
• Maintain sufficient working knowledge of electrical assembly, wiring, controls, troubleshooting, and machine integration to effectively assign work and support team decisions.
• Review project requirements, electrical prints, build priorities, and resource needs with technicians and project stakeholders.
• Facilitate resolution of technical and production issues by engaging the appropriate technician, engineer, project manager, or functional leader.
• Partner with Engineering to support manufacturability, electrical design improvements, and timely resolution of technical questions.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Materials teams to address component availability and electrical parts requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Management to align technician capacity and electrical activities with project schedules.
• Support machine teardowns, rebuilds, custom builds, system modifications, installations, upgrades, and customer-site activities.
• Participate in production, project, and cross-functional planning meetings.
• Communicate department status, risks, resource needs, and recommended actions to leadership.
• Support customer escalations and field-service requirements as appropriate.
• Department Leadership and Continuous Improvement
• Establish and monitor department goals and performance expectations.
• Evaluate staffing and capacity needs and communicate recommendations to leadership.
• Participate in interviewing, selection, onboarding, and retention activities.
• Support succession planning and technician career development.
• Standardize departmental practices, documentation, and work processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, quality, communication, and employee development.
• Use production information and team feedback to identify trends and implement improvements.
• Support the development and maintenance of electrical procedures, protocols, and technical documentation.
• Model sound judgment, accountability, and effective decision-making.
• Perform other duties and special assignments as needed.
• Supervisory Responsibilities
• Directly supervises assigned Electrical Technicians.
• Plans and assigns work based on production needs and employee capabilities.
• Provides coaching, training, recognition, and performance feedback.
• Conducts performance reviews and development conversations.
• Manages attendance, conduct, and performance concerns in partnership with People & Culture.
• Participates in hiring, onboarding, staffing, advancement, and compensation-related recommendations.

Required Education and Experience:

• Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field
