Summary

The Electrical Technician Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students, ensuring they achieve competency in course objectives. Instructors evaluate student questions and issues, taking appropriate actions to satisfy students, Dorsey Schools, and regulatory agencies, in compliance with policies and legal requirements. They should be motivating, fair, creative, dedicated, and professional.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; further education may be required for some positions.
  • Michigan Master or Electrical Journeyman License; or post-secondary education in the field from an accredited institution, or at least one year of post-secondary education and field experience in the course taught.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge – Skills – Abilities
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Ability to maintain employer relationships through regular contact and site visits.
  • Ability to handle confidential information ethically and legally.
Working / Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and dexterity to operate office equipment.
Essential Functions
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging classroom instruction using various methods.
  • Assess student learning and demonstrate effectiveness in student retention and success.
  • Manage classroom environment and ensure instructor preparedness.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
  • Support other departments and demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
