Job summary

Solaris Energy Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician / Field Service Representative to install, commission, and maintain industrial gas turbine generation packages and electrical systems at SEI and customer sites.

The role combines hands-on troubleshooting, commissioning, and on-site leadership in fast-paced projects, requiring strong electrical background in turbine, switchgear, and safety-critical activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in operations or construction around upstream, midstream, power plant or heavy industry.
• Journeyman electrician with progress toward master certification.
• NFPA 70E and LOTO trained.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, and commission industrial gas turbine generator packages and controls.
• Perform QC checks on electrical installation, wiring, conduit, and instrumentation.
• Operate and troubleshoot MV/LV distribution equipment, switchgear, generators, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and PLCs.
• Test and maintain DC systems, UPS, chargers, and battery banks.
• Support commissioning and startup activities, including generator load bank testing and PMS validation.
• Review event logs and trends with PMS and DCS systems for fault analysis.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, OEMs, engineering, and vendors on-site to meet deadlines.
• Analyze job dossiers, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams for accuracy and material lists.
• Lead and oversee field crews, ensuring quality standards during installation and retrofit work.
• Apply electrical safety protocols and hold NFPA 70E, LOTO, and offshore safety training.

About the Opportunity

Solaris Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician / Field Service Representative to support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial gas turbine generation packages and associated electrical systems at SEI and customer locations. This role combines hands-on electrical troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and on-site field leadership to ensure that power generation packages are installed and upgraded to customer specifications, safety standards, and project schedules. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial, power plant or electrical systems, turbine, switchgear packages, and safety-critical commissioning activities. This individual is comfortable coordinating directly with customers, contractors, OEM representatives, engineering teams, and thrives working in fast-paced project environments.

Essential Functions

• Install, replace, and commission industrial gas turbine generator packages (gas generators and power turbines) and associated package controls to meet customer specifications and project schedules.
• Perform QC check and troubleshooting of electrical installation, wiring, conduit, and instrumentation tasks in accordance with engineering drawings, ELS and and applicable electrical codes.
• Operate, test, and troubleshoot MV/LV distribution equipment, switchgear, generators, motors, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and PLC control systems.
• Test and maintain DC systems, UPS units, chargers, and battery banks using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Support commissioning and startup activities, including functional testing, generator load bank testing, paralleling and synchronization, load sharing, and Power Management System (PMS) validation.
• Utilize Power Management Systems (PMS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), equipment HMIs, and SEL protection relays to review event logs and trend data when troubleshooting electrical system faults.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, OEM representatives, engineering, and third-party vendors on-site to resolve technical issues and meet installation, deadlines.
• Analyze job dossiers, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to verify engineering accuracy and develop material lists and execution plans for installation and retrofit work.
• Lead and oversee field crews and technicians on-site, ensuring work is performed to company quality standards during construction, retrofit, and installation activities.
• Apply electrical safety protocols and hold certifications such as NFPA 70E electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and offshore safety training (e.g., HUET, BOSIET/CA-EBS).
• Train and mentor technicians and new hires on equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 5-year experience working in operations or construction around upstream, midstream, power plant or heavy industry.
• Experience working as a journeyman electrician and show progress towards gaining a master electrician certification.
• Trained in NFPA 70E
• Trained in LOTO
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status
