Responsibilities

  • Direct and train Level 1–3 workers to meet production goals.
  • Travel to job sites 5–10% of the time.
  • Plan and organize tasks to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Read labels, maps, drawings, and manuals to guide installation.
  • Communicate with customers regarding issues and solutions.

Job description

  • Install, alter, add to, and repair electrical systems, conductors, associated materials, and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
  • Perform assigned field installations, alterations, additions, and repairs within established time frames
  • Ensure work conforms to quality standards, project man-hours, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and properly store tools and equipment
  • Safely use and handle tools, equipment, and materials
  • Organize materials and tools to maintain a clean, neat work area
  • Erect and use pulley systems to lift or move heavy objects
  • Dig trenches using hand tools or equipment
  • Read labels, job-site maps and directions, manuals, and written instructions
  • Direct and train helpers and apprentices in proper work practices
  • Direct Level 1, 2, and 3 workers to meet production goals
  • Plan and organize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Visualize completed work before installation
  • Lay out electrical systems accurately according to code clearances
  • Install duct banks and meet spacing requirements
  • Install panelboards and transformers
  • Select and install cables according to the NEC
  • Perform material take-offs
  • Communicate with customers regarding issues and solutions
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Travel to job sites or office locations 5–10% of the time
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 or more years of experience and meets requirements
  • Experience in terminations, including aluminum and copper, twisted pair cable, and coaxial cable
  • Ability to comply with company/job safety requirements and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to give hand signals to operators
  • Knowledge of series circuits, Ohm's Law, DC circuits, resistance, and its effects
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide, and use electrical formulas accurately
  • Knowledge of blueprints/shop drawings, including symbol use
  • Knowledge of degrees in bending conduit, including concentric bending
  • Knowledge of switching procedures
  • Understanding and compliance with the NEC
  • Knowledge of grounding practices, transformer protection/connections, insulating oils and overcurrent protection, parallel circuits, fuse-operated circuit breakers, motors, inductance, capacitance, and power factors
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors
  • Ability to report to assigned job site location on time
  • Ability to lift/move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in noisy, outdoor, low- and high-temperature, small, and enclosed environments
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
  • Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and remain standing or sitting for prolonged periods
