Description

Electrical Technician II is responsible for wiring PC boards, controls, switches, and various other electrical assemblies from schematics, layout diagrams, and written specifications.

Shift and Hours

This is a first shift position with core hours Monday‑Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The selected candidate will be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify and properly wire general utility circuits and components, including exit lights, GFCI’s, internal and external lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, and other electrical assemblies.
• Layout, bend, and install EMT and rigid conduit according to NEC code.
• Identify wire and cable required for installations based on prints and diagrams.
• Safely pull and run cable and wire, adhering to conduit or cable tray fill requirements.
• Properly terminate a variety of wire and cable in panels, circuits, and electrical components such as switchgear, UPSs, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, terminal blocks, VFDs, and other equipment.
• Layout and mount electrical components and fixtures according to mechanical drawings and code requirements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failures, make necessary repairs or adjustments, and communicate changes to proper channels for drawing redlines and updates.
• Use knowledge of current NEC, MSHA, and other applicable codes to install electrical circuits, components, and grounding/bonding infrastructure.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints, including single‑line and three‑line wire diagrams, control schematics, and cable schedules.
• Use a solid foundation in electrical theory to problem‑solve and troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Consult job travelers and other documents to locate required information such as torque sheets, bills of materials, and special customer requirements.
• Safely operate and properly use tools including wire strippers, crimpers, drills, utility knives, conduit benders, reciprocating saws, hand and power tools.
• Operate multimeters, volt‑ohm meters, Hi‑pot equipment, overhead crane, forklift, hoists to assist in electrical assembly and moving materials/projects.
• Maintain tools in good operating condition and ensure proper storage at the end of each shift.
• Maintain regular, consistent job attendance and arrive on time.
• Follow and comply with IE core values, Cardinal Safety Rules, and IE safety program.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
