Job summary

SJE, operating as the Revere brand, seeks an Electrical Technician I for our Birmingham, Alabama facility to support industrial automation projects. You will perform skilled electrical work on control panels and wiring, read work orders and schematics, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure quality and safety.

Responsibilities include panel assembly, conduit installation, wiring terminations, testing, and maintaining clean, organized work areas while ensuring equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of drafting, electrical layout, blueprint reading, and maths.
• Hazards and safety precautions awareness.
• Strong electrical theory and practical wiring knowledge.
• Experience reading blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled electrical work on design, layout, assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of control panels and wiring.
• Read work orders, schematics, and production drawings; follow instructions.
• Collaborate with team leads, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and safe practices.
• Assist with shipping/receiving and ensure proper part availability.
• Install and shape conduit; terminate wires to components and terminals.
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report reliability concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Job

As an Electrical Technician I, you will be responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the design, layout, assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical control panels and wiring used in electrical systems. You must have some mechanical aptitude and be able to read work orders, schematics, and follow production drawings, guidelines, and other instructions. You will work with other departments in problem-solving solutions as it relates to the assembly process and the functioning of panels and components. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly work area.

The Skills You Need

• Read and interpret detailed drawings or schematics to mount and connect electrical panel components including switches, pilot lights, surge suppressors, circuit breakers, relays, VFDs, PLC hardware.
• Work with Team Lead, Production Supervisor, and engineering to ensure product quality.
• Work with shipping and receiving to ensure the availability of proper parts; assist in shipping to ensure proper and timely shipping of goods.
• Perform fabrication as needed; perform layout and installation of components on subpanels and enclosures.
• Install and shape conduit using mechanical or hydraulic conduit benders.
• Label and terminate wires or cables to electrical components and terminals.
• Maintain safety practices and procedures.
• Ensure equipment is in proper working order.
• Keep management informed about the reliability of tools and equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience And Ability Requirements

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of drafting, electrical system layout, blueprint reading, and mathematics; working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical system installation and maintenance work.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations.
• Skilled in operation of many types of production tools and equipment; skilled in reading blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to follow proper methods, procedures, and safety precautions of line work; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
