Job summary

Transmission & Distribution World in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a skilled maintenance technician specializing in plant instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, maintain, program, document and upgrade equipment, while ensuring safe, efficient operation and compliance with procedures.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of instrumentation/electrical experience, a strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read manuals and engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with technical training related to instrumentation, electrical or controls.
• Journeyman Electrician preferred; completion of a technical apprenticeship or certificate is advantageous.
• Experience with PLCs and electrical/electronic maintenance is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment in the plant.
• Read and interpret manuals, drawings, and material safety data sheets; document work orders.
• Upgrade equipment and participate in calibration, programming and commissioning tasks.
• Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with procedures and training requirements.
• Work in both indoor and outdoor plant environments; overtime and weekend work may be required.

Summary

This position is responsible for Plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical/electronic equipment, as well as other associated equipment. The individual in this position must be capable of troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, programming, documenting, upgrading, and the laying out and installing of equipment and systems.

• Must maintain appropriate certifications and continued education as required.
• The individual in this position must possess a working knowledge of electricity, electronics, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Perform electronic, electrical, instrumentation and control systems, which includes installations, calibrations, maintenance, documentation, and repairs.
• The knowledge of this position is equipment specific and assists in avoiding unnecessary process interruptions or downtime.
• This individual must have a working knowledge of safe work practices, plant equipment, trouble shooting and repair procedures, and equipment installation under the supervision of the Maintenance Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisors, and other members of management.
• Technician will ensure production equipment is properly configured and set to desired controls to assist with meeting desired operational efficiencies and goals.
• The area of work includes inside the facility and outside, depending on work requirements.
• Weekend and overtime work in this position is common and may be required to meet operational goals.
• This position requires the ability to work in extreme environments of both hot and cold.
• Must be able to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturers’ manuals, material safety data sheets and engineering drawings.
• Must be able to use written logbooks, plant computer system, and maintenance work order and supply system.

Additional Information

• Typical Education
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Graduation from a technical trade and/or completion of an apprenticeship, certificate or associate degree program in a related field.
  • Journeyman Electrician Card holders, preference plus.
• Relevant Experience
  • 3- 5 years of instrumentation/electronic/electrical relevant experience.
  • Experience programming and/or PLC operations preferred.
• Shift: 7pm - 7am "Pitman Shift Style"
• Wage: $34.81 - $38.23 p/hr + Nights Differential
