Job description

Electrical Technician/ Aerospace Wire Harness Builder

A New Paradigm For Space Operations.

Who We Are:

Space Kinetic is a dual‑use space technology startup building a completely new architecture for space operations – one that brings the advantages of proliferated drone technology (low‑cost, operationally flexible, attainable, distributed) to space missions while reducing the ecosystem's reliance on consumable fuel. In a world where many companies are focused on incrementally improving the status quo, we are focused on creating something entirely different – an architecture underpinned by new first principles to meet the opportunities and challenges of the third space age head‑on. Our goal is to move away from one‑to‑one space architectures – where each satellite in a constellation has one (or a small # of) primary payloads attached to the bus – and unlock a ‘one‑to‑many’ system, where each satellite has a large number of payloads which can be deployed from their host spacecraft at high velocities without firing a thruster.

This is not a role for someone looking for a traditional 40‑hour work week. Space Kinetic is building ambitious, first‑of‑its‑kind technology, and that requires urgency, ownership, and a high level of commitment to changing the foundational assumptions for everything we do in space.

What You’ll Do:

We are seeking an Electrical Technician / Aerospace Wire Harness Builder to support electrical assembly, wire harness fabrication, and integration of prototype aerospace hardware in a fast‑paced development environment. This role will work closely with engineering and production teams to build high‑quality harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical systems used in development, testing, and flight‑related hardware.

What It Takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, completed or in progress
  • Build wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical subassemblies to aerospace‑quality standards
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, pinouts, and assembly drawings
  • Cut, strip, crimp, label, route, terminate, and secure wires and connectors
  • Assemble and route harnesses for prototype hardware, test articles, and integration setups
  • Perform continuity checks, inspections, and basic troubleshooting of harnesses and electrical assemblies
  • Support electrical integration during hardware assembly and test activities
  • Maintain proper labeling, documentation, and revision control of electrical builds
  • Follow cleanliness, organization, and quality standards during assembly
  • Work closely with engineering to implement updates and design changes
  • Support electrical checkout, bench testing, and troubleshooting during integration and test activities
  • Assist with prototype and flight hardware preparation for test campaigns
  • Support verification of harness integrity before installation
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder).

What We’d Love:

  • Ability to work with minimal direction or support and to learn quickly; strong analytical skills; creative and innovative thinking; detail‑oriented; calm under pressure; commitment to follow‑through; enthusiastic with a talent for motivating others; receptive to criticism and open to others’ ideas; and effective in written communication.
  • Crimping, connector assembly, and basic soldering
  • Continuity testing and electrical inspection
  • Familiarity with prototype aerospace hardware
  • Experience working in development or low‑volume production environments
  • Ability to support fast design changes in a startup setting
  • Curiosity for testing in‑space operation
  • Passion for the commercial and government space industry is a strong plus

Where You’ll Be:

  • The position is onsite at our headquarters in El Segundo, CA. This role is supporting prototype aerospace hardware development, integration, and testing in our El Segundo facility.

What We Offer:
