Job summary

Ardent Services, LLC in Louisiana seeks an Electrical Technician to install, modify and maintain low, medium and high voltage circuits (up to 35kV) tied to power generation, distribution, lights and grounding. The role includes installing devices, testing circuits, and mentoring craft and apprentice personnel onsite.

Candidates must be local to the area and hold a valid TWIC card; familiarity with NEC and OSHA safety rules is required.

Responsibilities

• Install and modify electrical control systems.
• Terminate single and multiple conductor cables.
• Install devices such as fixtures, transformers, disconnects, motor starters, panels, start/stop stations.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits.
• Lead and mentor craft and apprentice personnel.
• Operate test equipment (VOM, ammeter, megohmmeter, Hipot) safely.
• Use hand and power tools (band saws, drills, conduit threaders, punches, tugger).
• Teach proper sealing packing and pouring techniques.
• Understand NEC and OSHA electrical safe work practices.
• Maintain and use PPE correctly.
• Assess hazards in elevated work areas and when using lifts.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout, Confined Spaces, emergency plans, permits, incident reporting, HazCom.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Installation and modification of electrical control systems.
• Installation and termination of single and multiple conductor cables.
• Installation of electrical devices such as light fixtures, transformers, disconnects, motor starters, distribution panels and start/stop stations.
• Test, trouble shoot and repair electrical circuits.
• Ability to lead and mentor craft and apprentice personnel.
• Safely use electrical test equipment such as a volt-ohm meter, amp meter, megohmmeter and Hy-Pot.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools such as band saws, drills, conduit threaders, hole punches and wire tuggers.
• Understanding and teaching capability in regard to properly packing and pouring seals.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices
• Knowledge of use, limitations and maintenance of all Personal Protective Equipment required for the assigned work.
• Knowledge of hazards and safe work procedures associated with working form elevated work areas and personnel lift equipment.
• Knowledge of hazards and safe work procedures associated with the assigned work including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Spaces, Emergency Action Plans, Safe Work Permits, Incident Reporting, and Hazcom procedures.
