Job summary

JM Eagle is seeking an Electrical Technician to install, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and test electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment across the Fontana plant.

You will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, read schematics, and support safe, reliable operations while complying with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and LOTO procedures. Strong problem-solving and teamwork are essential, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in electronics or electrical maintenance is preferred.
  • Minimum three years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, motors, drives, and control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Job description

The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and testing electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment throughout the manufacturing facility. This position supports safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while complying with Company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable electrical codes.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot analog and digital control systems, PLCs, motor controls, sensors, instrumentation, and electrical components.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and test AC/DC motors, motor drives, inverters, transformers, electrical panels, lighting systems, and conduit.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems throughout the facility.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Repair and maintain electrical motors, drives, process equipment, and associated mechanical components.
  • Inspect equipment and determine when repairs or replacement of components are required.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and plant improvement projects.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, inspection reports, and other documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Company safety procedures.
  • Maintain work areas in accordance with Company housekeeping standards.
  • Safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization.
  • Assist in training new maintenance employees as assigned.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with production, engineering, contractors, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Respond to emergency equipment failures as required.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Overtime, weekends, holidays, rotating schedules, and emergency call‑ins may be required based on operational needs.
  • Employees are required to comply with all Company safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities and does not directly supervise or manage any employees.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work at varying heights as needed.
  • Reach, grasp, push, pull, and perform repetitive use of the hands and arms.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently; heavier items require team lifting or mechanical assistance.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively.
  • Work around moving mechanical equipment and electrical systems while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Safely recognize equipment status indicators, warning signals, gauges, and other operational displays necessary to perform essential job duties.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and other departments in person, by telephone, or through other communication methods.
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other powered industrial equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
  • Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body.
  • Subjects to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gasses, high heat, or explosives.
  • Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dusts.

This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to:

  • Moving mechanical equipment
  • Electrical systems and energized equipment
  • Noise, vibration, dust, and fumes
  • Heat, cold, and changing weather conditions
  • Oils, lubricants, cleaning chemicals, and other industrial materials
Reasoning and Problem‑Solving
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and mechanical equipment issues.
  • Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions, electrical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, exercise sound judgment, and work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
