Job summary

Qualifications

  • Two years of relevant post-high-school education or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical systems for suborbital launch vehicles.
  • Test and operate electrical systems, generating test plans and results.
  • Execute launch field assembly and support countdown operations.

Skills

Knowledge of MIL-SPEC cable fabrication
Knowledge of power design and power electronics
Hands-on experience with electrical cabling
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain certifications (solder, cable, crimp & harness)
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Education

Two years of post-high-school education in electronics, mathematics, or engineering courses
Four years of practical experience in electronics assembly and/or operation

Job description

Kratos is currently seeking an Electrical Technician in Crane, Indiana. The role requires practical understanding of the required systems and providing technical support as needed. Responsibilities include building and setting up electrical test equipment, preparing and conducting qualification and acceptance tests, performing system integration and testing, and operating support equipment during launch operations. Candidates must be able to read wiring schematic diagrams, assemble cabling, and integrate electronic/mechanical components into space flight vehicles. Up to 40% travel may be required to support launch operations.

Essential Job Functions
Primary
  • Assemble electrical systems and electrical harnessing for suborbital launch vehicles under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Test and operate electrical systems and harnessing for suborbital launch vehicles. Generate test plans, document test results, and create post‑test reports.
  • Review requirements, configuration documents, and wiring schematics to determine test specifications, equipment, procedures, and objectives. Identify and resolve problems encountered during testing.
  • Execute launch field assembly and checkout of subsystems prior to final vehicle assembly, assist in vehicle loading and support equipment hook‑up, and support countdown operations by arming electrical systems and operating ground support equipment.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
Secondary
  • Generate wiring schematics and interface control documents (ICDs) for integration of launch vehicle systems.
Job Skills
Required
  • Knowledge of MIL‑SPEC cable fabrication.

Education and Experience

  • Four years of practical experience in electronics assembly and/or operation.
  • Substitution of 2 additional years of practical experience for education.
Work Environment

The work environment requires standing for extended periods and working in elevated areas such as ladders or platforms. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, gloves, and steel‑toed shoes will be worn during all hazardous activities such as equipment lifting and vehicle loading operations. The noise level is usually moderate. Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Work is primarily team‑based with independent collaboration as needed. A professional representation of Kratos is required at all times.
