Job description

Location: Twinsburg, OH

The Electrical Systems Engineer II is responsible for overseeing and leading the design, development, and testing of state-of-the-art electrical power generation systems and components for use in commercial and military fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft. The role requires strategic leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success while complying with client requirements, regulatory standards, SAFRAN standards, and fostering innovation. The individual will serve as the technical point of contact for internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Oversees the design and development of electrical power generation systems and related components, providing guidance and validating technical choices.
  2. Leads and coordinates a team of engineers to execute projects, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and adherence to timelines.
  3. Ensures cross-functional coordination and communication among teams, including design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing.
  4. Provides mentorship and guidance to engineering staff, fostering professional growth and innovation.
  5. Ensures designs meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and customer specifications.
  6. Leads the development of engineering solutions to complex challenges.
  7. Oversees testing protocols to validate systems and components, analyzes test data, identifies issues, and implements corrective actions to meet performance and safety requirements.
  8. Identifies and assesses technical risks, implementing mitigation strategies.
  9. Serves as the primary technical contact between engineering teams, stakeholders, and customers, providing updates on engineering solutions.
  10. Travel may be required occasionally, both domestically and internationally (less than 10%).
  11. Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to health, safety, and environmental programs.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience with proven technical leadership.
Candidate Skills & Requirements
  • Experience with systems engineering involving multi-discipline design teams in regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of ARP4754A, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-178C, and related aerospace standards.
  • Deep understanding of aerospace design, manufacturing, and testing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (FAA, EASA).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects strategically.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with electrical systems in aerospace applications.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as Windchill RV&S, IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Proficiency with aerospace software tools like CATIA, SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) for system simulation and validation.
Work Environment

The work environment includes office and laboratory settings, with occasional travel to manufacturing sites or customer locations. Flexibility for on-site work, project oversight, and design reviews is required.
