Job summary

Stadler US is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to design, integrate, test, and validate electrical systems powering modern North American rail vehicles. You will work across power distribution, vehicle controls, HVAC, lighting, and onboard technology, transitioning concepts to production-ready solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, cross-disciplinary collaboration with international teams, and ongoing design improvements for reliability and safety. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience for mid-level candidates.
  • Experience in rail, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial controls, energy, manufacturing, or other complex technical industries is valued.
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking mindset.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
  • Experience with electrical design and engineering tools such as E3, SmarTeam, PLM, ECN, or similar systems.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training, supplier collaboration, and vehicle testing activities.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve designs, performance, and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.

Electrical Systems Engineer

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll help bring together the electrical systems that make a train function as a complete vehicle. Your work may include:

  • Integrating systems such as HVAC, lighting, fire protection, entry systems, and passenger technologies.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, learning new systems, and working in a highly collaborative environment.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience for mid-level candidates.
  • Experience in rail, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial controls, energy, manufacturing, or other complex technical industries is highly valued.
