Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking an Engineer to design control and protection systems for transmission, sub transmission and distribution networks. You will determine relay settings, perform power system calculations and protection coordination studies while supporting project teams.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, plus strong analytical and communication skills; EIT or PE licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required.
• Active commitment to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is desired.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Experience with symmetrical components and protection devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system outages for proper relay and breaker performance.
• Initiate investigation of questionable protective system performance.
• Design cost-effective protection schemes and perform power system calculations and coordination studies.
• Coordinate activities of purchasing, drafting, construction, and operation and provide cost estimates.
• Provide consulting on protective device coordination and/or automation; conduct studies on renewable inverter connections.
