Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking an Electrical/Computer Engineer to design protection systems for transmission, sub transmission and distribution networks. You will determine relay settings, analyze outages and coordinate protective device schemes with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with a preference for PE licensure or EIT certification, and experience with symmetrical components and protective devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
• Active commitment to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is desired.
• Applicants with Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Experience with symmetrical components and protection devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system outages for proper relay and breaker performance.
• Design protection schemes, review schematic drawings, perform power system calculations and coordination studies.
• Schedule and coordinate activities of purchasing, drafting, construction, operating and provide cost estimates.
• Provide consulting services to other groups on system protective device coordination and automation. Conduct studies for renewable inverter-based connections such as solar and wind.
