JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Lead all aspects of the company's safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment, investigating safety incidents, and retraining staff as needed.
- Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
- Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for small projects or parts of larger projects.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinate and manage project site care, custody, and control.
- Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
- Participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
- Create and adjust project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Track and monitor project budgets and costs using project management systems.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and departments.
- Maintain project documentation and logs.
- Approve and record cost information, complete daily and tracking reports.
- Evaluate progress on self-perform work and adjust as necessary.
- Manage material and equipment needs.
- Support procurement and approval processes.
- Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment.
- Manage timecard approvals for accurate reporting.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC, and external resources.
- Support project closeouts and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
- Understand project pursuit processes and methodologies.
- Participate in project planning, staffing, and change management.
- Negotiate project changes with owners and architects.
- Participate in project review meetings and buyout meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understand and apply contract terms and conditions.
- Identify and recruit top talent.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring non-discrimination policies are implemented.
Additional Responsibilities for Superintendent 2
- Manage complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.
- Handle management, scheduling, safety, and quality for assigned projects or portions.
- Manage project risks and propose solutions.
- Coordinate deliverables from internal resources.
- Participate in project pursuits and negotiations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
- Understanding of construction management fundamentals, project processes, and trades.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
- Knowledge of budgeting, labor productivity, and scheduling software.
- Apply Lean principles and understand document changes and impact on schedules.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's preferred.
- At least 5 years of construction experience; 3+ years of field supervision.
- Experience with Lean principles is a plus.
Working Environment
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, travel, and work in extreme conditions.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
- Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
