JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Lead all aspects of the company's safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment, investigating safety incidents, and retraining staff as needed.
- Manage subcontractors and organize the overall job and workflow.
- Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for small projects or a major portion of larger projects.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of the project site.
- Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
- Participate in project progress and OAC meetings.
- Create, manage, and adjust the project schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Track and monitor project budget and costs using project management systems.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors, and other departments.
- Maintain project documentation, updates, logs, and inspection notebooks.
- Approve and record unit cost information, complete reports, logs, and tracking documents.
- Evaluate progress on self-perform work and make adjustments as needed.
- Manage material and equipment needs.
- Support procurement and approval processes.
- Assist in selecting tools and equipment for self-perform operations.
- Manage timecard approval to ensure accurate reporting.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications, standards, QA/QC, and external resources.
- Support project closeouts and coordinate activities with owners, architects, and authorities.
- Understand project pursuit processes and methodologies.
- Participate in project pre-planning, monitoring, and adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with field leadership for staffing and project changes.
- Participate in negotiations and project review meetings.
- Understand and apply contract terms and conditions.
- Identify and recruit top talent.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring non-discrimination policies are implemented.
Additional Responsibilities - Superintendent 2
- Manage complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.
- Handle management, scheduling, production, safety, and quality for their project or portion.
- Identify and actively manage project risks.
- Use knowledge and experience to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Manage deliverables from internal resources such as logistics and IPS.
- Participate in project pursuits and negotiations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software.
- Understand construction management fundamentals and project processes.
- Build strong relationships with team members and clients.
- Apply Lean principles and understand specific trades and scopes of work.
- Manage budgets, maximize profitability, and foster future work through relationships.
- Knowledge of layout, crane flagging, rigging, and document change impacts.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (Preferred).
Experience
- 5+ years construction experience.
- 3+ years field supervision experience.
- Experience with Lean principles (Preferred).
Working Environment
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Travel and/or relocation may be required.
- Exposure to extreme conditions.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
- Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling; occasional sitting and computer work.
