Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a project lead to supervise craft professionals on the Port Arthur LNG project in Port Arthur, TX. You will direct activities, manage schedules and coordinate subcontract work to deliver on time and within budget.

You will oversee field teams, review design changes, and ensure tools and resources meet project requirements. A strong communicator with LNG/oil/gas or petrochemical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading craft teams on LNG, oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, or power projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Ability to develop a three-week look-ahead schedule and manage teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs craft activities and schedules work.
  • Coordinates subcontractor activities and team development.
  • Ensures tools, materials and equipment are available and compliant with specifications.
  • Oversees safety, quality and adherence to budgets and schedules.

Project Overview

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and export facility on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope includes two identical LNG trains, two LNG storage tanks, one LNG carrier berth, and associated utilities and facilities.

Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and work rules, and perform within specifications, schedules, and budgets. #LI-TH1

Major Responsibilities
  • Leadership / Supervision: Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Planning / Productivity: Determines workforce requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Tools, Materials & Equipment: Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site. Prepares field material requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
  • Safety & Quality: Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Technical: Works with construction field engineers, foremen, and craft professionals, interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents. Coordinates engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a minimum of 12‑14 years of relevant work experience or a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience in LNG, oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction along the U.S. Gulf Coast is preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability. Ability to develop a 3‑week look‑ahead schedule in regards to work operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
Additional Information

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued personal protection equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (e.g., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.). Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required that may include but not limited to night shift or split shift.
