Job summary

Royal Engineers and Consultants, LLC is seeking an Electrical Superintendent to direct field activities for electrical trades on data center construction projects. You will coordinate generators, switchgear, UPS equipment, PDUs, and busway installations from rough-in through commissioning.

This field-based role requires 8+ years of superintendent-level experience, strong ability to read electrical drawings, OSHA 30, and NFPA 70E safety knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of superintendent-level experience directing electrical trades on commercial or industrial projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or construction management preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification and working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily field activities for electrical trade partners, including equipment installation, rough-in, and terminations.
  • Coordinate installation sequencing for generators, paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, busway, and RPPs in the electrical yard and gray space.
  • Enforce adherence to electrical drawings, coordination drawings, and equipment submittals during installation.
  • Support pre-functional and functional testing activities in coordination with the commissioning agent, including Level 1–4 checks.
  • Identify and resolve electrical coordination conflicts using BIM drawings and field verification.
  • Track electrical punch list items and confirm corrective work is completed prior to milestones.
  • Enforce NFPA 70E electrical safety procedures for energized and de-energized work.

Job description

Position Summary

The Electrical Superintendent directs the installation and coordination of electrical systems on a data center construction project, including generators, paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, busway, and RPPs, from rough-in through commissioning support. This role works closely with the electrical trade partners, the general superintendent, and the commissioning agent to sequence equipment installation and testing within a tightly coordinated electrical yard and gray space schedule.

This is a field-based position supporting construction projects in North Louisiana, Virginia, and Corpus Christi, Texas. Project assignments and reporting locations will vary based on operational needs. Travel and/or temporary relocation may be required.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Direct daily field activities for electrical trade partners, including equipment installation, rough-in, and terminations.
  • Coordinate installation sequencing for generators, paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, busway, and RPPs in the electrical yard and gray space.
  • Enforce adherence to approved electrical shop drawings, coordination drawings, and equipment submittals during installation.
  • Support pre-functional and functional testing activities in coordination with the commissioning agent, including Level 1 through Level 4 commissioning checks for electrical systems.
  • Identify and resolve electrical coordination conflicts using BIM coordination drawings and field verification.
  • Track electrical punch list items and confirm corrective work is completed prior to commissioning milestones.
  • Enforce electrical safety procedures, including NFPA 70E requirements, for energized and de-energized work.
  • Coordinate utility service connections, medium voltage terminations, and switchgear energization sequencing with the utility company and commissioning agent.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of superintendent-level experience directing electrical trades on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems installation, including standby power, switchgear, and UPS equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and coordination drawings.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification and working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience on a data center or other mission‑critical construction project.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes, including IST and system-by-system turnover for electrical systems.
  • Experience with medium voltage utility coordination and switchgear energization.
Work Environment

Full-time presence on an active construction site, including electrical yards and data halls during equipment installation and testing. Requires the ability to walk the full site throughout the day, work around energized equipment under appropriate safety controls, and wear standard personal protective equipment, including arc-rated clothing when required.
