This role supports the Associate Director of Engineering in providing oversight of electrical activities across the entire campus. The incumbent leads project management, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance functions related to low- and medium-voltage electrical systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable electrical operations that support the Medical Center's clinical, research, and administrative missions.## **Job Description:****Job Duties****Project Management*** Assist with electrical feasibility studies, specifications, proposals, procurement, installation, and project management oversight of contractors.* Represent the Facilities Management Department in new electrical system design and review.* Serve as an advisor to departmental management on the development, review, and implementation of projects and safety practices relating to the Medical Center's other building systems.* Participate in the costing, scheduling, and completion of existing and proposed maintenance projects involving building electrical equipment and systems.* Conduct periodic inspections of projects to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards and timely completion according to contract terms.**Process Management & Improvement*** Provide campus-wide electrical support to maintenance zones and other groups within Facilities Management.* Assist in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.* Develop, maintain, and track an electrical safety program for Facilities Management staff and contractors.* Integrate system additions, modifications, and upgrades to ensure seamless, effective operations.* Develop and establish internal inspection procedures, including safety considerations, to determine necessary preventive maintenance of building electrical systems.* Create and enhance operational policies, practices, and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and effective electrical systems operations and maintenance.* Recommend changes to existing policies to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.**Vendor & Budget Management*** Monitor purchases of system upgrades and new systems to ensure proper equipment selection and installation.* Act as the liaison with contractors and vendors involved in repairs, renovations, and upgrades of electrical systems.* Manage assigned staff, contractors, and materials to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.* Participate in budget preparation for building systems operations and maintenance; make expenditure recommendations and assist in determining budget and project priorities to control variances.**Training & Collaboration*** Complete continuous training on system hardware, software, and electrical safety, and apply this training (e.g., switchgear, UPS systems, safety protocols).* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external leaders and managers to achieve mutual benefit and organizational goals.* Serve as a team member or leader on assigned committees.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Furthermore, job duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.**Work Environment*** Work is performed onsite, five (5) days a week, across KUMC campus facilities.* Will require work in mechanical rooms, electrical vaults, rooftops, and other confined or elevated spaces.* Exposure to electrical hazards and low- and medium-voltage systems requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).* May require lifting and carrying materials and equipment up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.* May require responding to after-hours emergencies or working non-standard shifts to support 24/7 facility operations.* Will operate 13.8 KV gas switches.**Required Qualifications****Education:** High School Diploma or GED equivalent.**Licenses/Certifications*** Current Journeyman Electrician license, as required by state regulations.**Work Experience*** Five (5) years of experience in electrical project work, with special emphasis on low- and medium-voltage electrical system.
