Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering/reliability experience in chemical, polymer, or similar continuous-process manufacturing.
• Hands-on troubleshooting with 480V industrial electrical systems, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, and legacy equipment.
• Working knowledge of HART instrumentation and NEC/NFPA requirements.
• Experience with RCFA, FMEA, condition monitoring and replacement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical and equipment reliability across 480V systems, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, PLCs.
• Lead small electrical/instrumentation projects replacing obsolete components.
• Analyze recurring failures and develop corrective actions using RCFA, FMEA, Pareto, and condition monitoring.
• Develop reliability project scopes and replacement strategies based on condition and lifecycle.
• Review safety interlocks/SIS with EHS to support OSHA/NEC/NFPA compliance.
• Maintain reliability KPIs and equipment documentation while improving plant systems.
• Support and train maintenance/E&I technicians on troubleshooting methods.
• Build knowledge of high-voltage distribution and serve as Radiation Safety Officer after training.

HTI is seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability Engineer with an established chemical and polymer manufacturer in Spartanburg, SC. This role supports a large, continuous-process operation producing polyester resin and staple fiber, with a strong focus on improving the reliability of electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems across both legacy and modern production equipment. The position is Direct Hire, day shift, with a salary range of $115,000-$125,000 depending on experience.

What You Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of electrical engineering/reliability experience in chemical, petrochemical, polymer, or similar continuous-process manufacturing
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with 480V industrial electrical systems, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, and legacy production equipment
• Strong electrical troubleshooting experience in chemical, polymer, petrochemical, fiber/textile, pulp & paper, or similar continuous-process manufacturing
• Working knowledge of HART instrumentation, NEC/NFPA requirements, and electrical safety practices
• Experience with reliability tools such as RCFA, FMEA, failure analysis, condition monitoring, and equipment replacement/obsolescence strategies
• Ability to work across maintenance, operations, engineering, and EHS while supporting technicians and driving reliability improvements

What Your Role Will Look Like:

The Electrical Reliability Engineer will be a hands-on technical resource for electrical reliability across a continuous chemical/polymer manufacturing operation. The role will support equipment throughout polymerization, resin/chip production, extrusion and spinning, fiber processing, and downstream finishing operations. Much of the work will involve aging and legacy equipment, so the right person should be comfortable troubleshooting existing systems while identifying practical upgrades that improve uptime, safety, and long-term asset reliability.

• Troubleshoot electrical and equipment reliability issues across 480V systems, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, PLC-controlled equipment, extruders, spinning equipment, and related production systems
• Lead small electrical and instrumentation projects, including replacement of obsolete VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, instruments, and related components
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions using RCFA, FMEA, Pareto analysis, condition monitoring, and other reliability methods
• Develop reliability project scopes and practical replacement strategies based on equipment condition, operational needs, risk, and lifecycle considerations
• Review safety and process interlocks/Safety Instrumented Systems and partner with EHS to support OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and site compliance requirements
• Maintain reliability KPIs and equipment documentation while improving plant systems, maintenance strategies, and digital work processes
• Support and train maintenance/E&I technicians on troubleshooting methods, equipment operation, and reliability improvements
• Build knowledge of the site high-voltage distribution system (100kV to 12.47kV to 480V) and serve as site Radiation Safety Officer after company-provided training
