Job Description

The Electrical Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing project-specific electrical quality control programs throughout all phases of construction. This individual will ensure that engineering documentation, electrical installations, materials, equipment, testing activities, and turnover documentation comply with contract requirements, project specifications, applicable standards, and customer expectations.

  • Develop and manage project-specific quality control plans, processes, meetings, documentation, tracking systems, deficiency logs, and rework records.
  • Oversee quality activities throughout engineering, VDC coordination, prefabrication, procurement and material receipt, field installation, start-up, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Partner with project management, field operations, engineering, and office teams to maintain compliance with construction documents, specifications, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Represent the electrical quality function during meetings with customers, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Review electrical installations and project activities to identify potential deficiencies, nonconforming work, or documentation gaps.
  • Document and track deficiencies while coordinating corrective actions with the appropriate project and field personnel.
  • Monitor the receipt, inspection, tracking, and documentation of electrical materials, equipment, and customer-furnished equipment.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and other construction documentation for quality-related requirements.
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of quality procedures, reports, inspection processes, and project-specific documentation.
  • Support electrical start-up, systems testing, commissioning, and verification activities.
  • Maintain accurate electronic quality records using Microsoft 365 and applicable construction or project management platforms.
  • Coordinate final quality documentation, commissioning records, turnover packages, and other closeout requirements.
  • Maintain a regular presence in the project field office and active construction areas to observe work, collaborate with field teams, and address quality concerns as they arise.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience within the electrical construction industry, or a combination of at least 4 years of electrical experience and 4 years of related MEP construction experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control experience within a construction or related technical environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical construction practices, installation methods, and field operations.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application within electrical construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, 2D plans, and other technical project documentation.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, communicating, and resolving construction deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of electrical QA/QC procedures, inspection practices, documentation requirements, and quality management processes.
  • Familiarity with complex electrical systems and equipment, including switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), battery systems, Static Transfer Switches (STS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), medium-voltage systems, transformers, protective relays, metering, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to develop, implement, maintain, and modify project quality plans, reports, logs, and tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, general contractors, project managers, engineers, field personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn and work within various electronic construction documentation platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in a field-based project environment with regular interaction in active construction areas.
  • Experience with mission-critical or data center construction projects is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical start-up, commissioning, and systems testing is preferred.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary construction, engineering, and field teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with formal quality management systems and construction documentation procedures is preferred.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred but not required.
